Rocky Paul Mikatoa is a highly experienced registered architect with more than 20 years of post-qualification experience across education, community, civic, hospitality, residential, religious and commercial projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. His career spans design leadership, project management, contract administration, mentoring and BIM implementation across a diverse range of complex projects and multidisciplinary environments.
Paul has worked across all stages of project delivery, from feasibility and master planning through to documentation and construction administration, with particular strength in translating complex design ideas into practical, buildable outcomes. His extensive experience includes major education and public sector projects, including work delivered for the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), alongside large-scale residential, mixed-use and community developments.
Known for his collaborative and solutions-focused approach, Paul brings strong leadership, technical expertise and a deep understanding of construction methodology to every project. He is highly proficient in Revit and BIM workflows and has played key roles in mentoring emerging architects and implementing design systems within practice environments.
Throughout his career, Paul has contributed to award-winning and internationally recognised projects, with experience gained through leading practices including Gregory Burgess Architects, Lyons Architecture, Arch10, Trinity+One, FloDesign and Design Core Architects.
Paul has extensive experience in master planning and feasibility studies across education, mixed-use, residential, civic and commercial developments. His approach combines strategic thinking, design vision and practical delivery knowledge to assess project potential, site opportunities and long-term development outcomes. Working closely with clients, consultants and stakeholders, he is skilled in balancing planning controls, financial viability, functionality and community outcomes to create clear and achievable development strategies. His experience ranges from early-stage site investigations and concept planning through to large-scale urban, educational and mixed-use master planning projects.
