EDUCATION

AN IDEA – A VISION

(The University of Melbourne )

Design Core Architects began as an idea, a vision of a practice that delivers accessible, sustainable, innovative and appropriate architecture.

Educated at The University of Melbourne in the late 1970s, with the spirit of modernism and the idea that anything was possible, Jody Wallis (Director of Design Core Architects) began his career working in domestic architecture. After gaining his degree, Jody worked with renowned Melbourne architect, Robert Marshall, designing homes with the soul and charm of natural, recycled materials, contributing to the great Australian boom in domestic adobe (mud-brick) construction.

EXPERIENCE

ROBERT MARSHALL ARCHITECTS

(Melbourne: 1982 – 1986)

After gaining his degree, Jody worked with Melbourne architect, Robert Marshall, designing homes with the soul and charm of natural, recycled materials, contributing to the great Australian boom in domestic adobe (mud-brick) construction.

Early experience in the design of a number of educational buildings was a feature of this period.

PETER G LYALL & ASSOCIATES

(Melbourne: 1984 – 2013)

Peter G Lyall & Associates, began as a growing team of Melbourne architects who built a reputation for educational and aged care architecture. Schools, kindergartens and multi unit retirement facilities became the staple in a range of design and construction projects. The company focused on fostering strong ongoing relationships with their clients and became a well known source for design of major school building projects for both government and non-government schools.

EXPANSION

A NEW PHASE

(Melbourne: 2013 – )

Design Core Architects was created in September 2013 to continue the business of Peter G Lyall & Associates. Director and principal architect, Jody Wallis was a key contributor to building the original company, developing substantial expertise in design and construction of educational facilities and has built key relationships with many Melbourne schools.

Our highly qualified team of architects have a long history working in educational architecture and understand the common issues and critical factors at each stage of a project. We assign our principal architects to manage all the critical phases of the design and construction process.
